One of my favourite experiences while travelling Belgium was visiting the Menin Gate. The memorial commemorates 55,000 allied dead, and the Last Post ceremony has been held at 8pm every day since 1928, except for during German occupation in WW2 (when it took place in a military cemetery in Surrey)
